Radio Trailer Research

Radio trailers are significantly important in terms of persuading various audiences to watch a certain film/programme etc.  As the name suggests, radio trailers are distributed through the radio therefore requires more auditory elements as nothing visual can be shown. In order to produce a successful radio trailer it should include the following:

·         Voice over with pieces of sounds/speech from the film

·         Information at the end of the trailer regarding viewing and certificate

·         A slogan to the film

·         Sounds effects/music when appropriate

A radio trailer will be played throughout various radio stations, depending on what content is included, for example a trailer for an animated film (e.g Disney) would not be ideally be played on Kerrang Fm.  All advertisements are shown through a certain radio channel in terms of its audience, however, short films are commonly shown through short film festivals, and therefore it is more likely advertisements for feature films are played on the radio.

Updated skills on using Photoshop

Using Photoshop is significant through our project as it allows us to create an ideal film poster for our short film. At the beginning of the year, I used Photoshop to create a film poster for 'Playback' however this consisted of basic images and font as I had little acknowledgement on the software.
From recently taking part in a lesson  primarily focusing on the software, my skills of how Photoshop works has significantly excelled; evidenced through my poster design at the start of the year and a film poster i recently created . Despite the recent film poster having no relevance to our film I thought it would be worthwhile presenting what I created to show the comparison of what I could do and what I am capable of doing now.  Furthermore, my increase in confidence of using Photoshop will now allow me to create a much more detailed and desirable film poster.

Previous poster

From the image below, it clearly presents my little acknowledgement on designing a film poster however some positive features of the poster include the relevance to the film as the image of the tape as the main attraction presents the main focus of our film. Despite this relevant image, the font, colours and overall design of the poster is very poor and is not desirable to our target audience.

In comparison to this (evidenced from the poster above) I have taken many images from the internet and combined them to create something new; a more detailed and attractive poster. Despite the font still being really simple, it still supports and shows how I have progressed with my Photoshop skills when it comes to piecing together images and editing
