Short film analysis

https://youtu.be/9c0U-4Axvbw

Hybrid is a short film that I cam across on youtube that is about an Alien invasion, the beginning of the film sets the scene and subtitles is used as we are listening to a foreign language of the 'Hybrids' talking that we can not come to understand. A special forces daughter is killed by the Aliens and she is seeking revenge and sends a team into the alien territory but she finds out that they aren't Aliens they are a failed experiment by the government t crater a bio-hybrid soldier, she exposes they in order to save the city form falling.

We hear a voice over of the woman talking about 'the key' and asking what is the key but we do not know? this is done through a flashback and through very slow editing techniques. We see her daughter and what happened before the attack by the Hybrids, fade in and out is used and close ups of the young girls face using high key lighting issued in order to show her innocence to the world.
The mother then says 'they won't stop until they find it' but what is it and why do they need it?
Then we witness a cut away which then we are faced with a close up of the mother in a totally different atmosphere in what looks to be a distopian setting holding a rather large gun. Both digetic and non digetic sound is used to set the scene and give us a feeling of what is going to happen and this keeps us on edge thinking what will happen next.
In terms of shots high angle shots are used to show that this woman is somewhat superior and is the leader of  her pack. Then a transition is used and we see when the little girl got abducted and one minute she is there and the next she is gone, we see the woman run to find her girl and a sound bridge is used to transition the shot and carry on the music back to present time.

In terms of stereotypes we do not typically expect to see a woman geared up to go to war and fight we would expect this to be a man, who is strong and independent looking to fight his own battles but intact we are shown the total opposite and from the flash backs we see a woman wearing a dress and bright colours what we normally

From the setting and the shot variation we immediately see the film as a science fiction due to the stereotypical view of science fiction and what we would expect to see from the film such as burnt down buildings and guns and futuristic elements such as aliens etc.
