When deciding what radio trailer to do an analysis of I decided on The Conjuring, I did this as it will relate to our film as it is a horror and our film incorporates some aspects of the Horror genre.
The first thing we hear is 'from the director of Saw and insidious' immediately these are two hyped horror films and they are well known globally. This form of marketing is done in order to from the fist few seconds capture the attention of many, further more sound from the film is used in order to give the immediate impression of the genre of the film and to add to the atmosphere. Flowwing this a voice over from the film is used but from this little is given away, apart from the mention of a house. This suggests slight aspects about the film but not too many to ruin the film and what its intentions are. Following this we here 'critics call this a master class in absolute terror' again as a form of marketing to keep the audience listening until the end as well as creating a buzz as people will feel the need to go and watch the movie as it has received good critical reviews that reflect the genre. Also something that has been cleverly used is the link between reality and the film as the narrator says 'Genuinly freighting, sensationally entertaining' followed by the voice over of a character 'and its feeding off of you' this makes a link as it suggests that the more we here and see the more we will want to consume as we are entertained and it acts as an escapism from reality. Finally the last thing that is mentioned is the age rating which is typical and vital of a trailer in order for the audience to know the limits of the film, and acts as a safety barrier for the consumers.
