Individual poster design

For my film poster I would like to create an enigma. To achieve this I would use an dilated pupil, to portray the drug like experience that these tapes create when they are being watched. This will display how addictive the tapes are, and by using a reflection of a tape or a tape player it will reenforce the idea that these are what addictive. This would portray everything I would like to reveal about the film, however, just from looking at it, it doesn't give too much away about the film. This will draw the audience in to the film, and gain their attention, and keep them in the dark, wanting to know more. The enigma has been used in many other film posters, usually in teaser film posters, such as Scream and the Final Destination poster (seen on the right).  The Final Destination poster doesn't even say the name of the film on it, it just shows a skull with the number five through it. The skull is frequently used throughout this franchise, so will help the audience make the like between this film and the rest. Also dark colour's are used, and fonts similar to those used in the other posters for the other sequels are used, to help keep synergy.

This is my individual poster design. I chose a pixelated font, to enforce the sci-fi element of our film, and the high tech element. I decided to keep the poster simple, without giving away too much about the film while still giving the audience a stubtle idea of what the film is actually about. The dialated pupil of the eye represents the drug like effect that the playback has on an individual. I then decided to have a tape refelected in the eye, showing the audience what is causing this drug like state, without giving away why or how it is creating the effect. My aim was to create an enigma, to keep the audience guessing while still attempting to draw them in. To improve this I would make the tape in the eye more visible, as I understand that it is difficult to see.

I then chose to update my film poster to create a more professional looking poster, while keeping the same themes as the original poster I made. I think this poster would be perfect for a teaser poster as it doesn't give too much away about the film, while the images are still relevant.

The following teaser poster are perfect examples of the sort of thing I was aiming to achieve with this poster. The poster includes iconography which relates to their film, while not giving too much away like the actors included and what will happen within the film. I aimed to do this by including an eye which shows the tape within the pupil, to portray the addiction of the tapes without it being too obvious. This creates an enigma for the audience to attempt to figure out before the release. To improve my poster I should have included our tagline and the possible release date of our film. However this is not essential because I believe this poster would only be used as a teaser if it was to actually be released as a poster for our film.

I created a final draft of my indivdual poster, this time including our tagline 'Murder, Deception, Lies' to create synergy between our radio trailer and our final poster. This helps the audience make links between each of our advertising products and keeps good continuity between both products.
