Plot synopsis

Plot: The film focus's on a character named Vera Dawson who works for a large corporation, she is a Playback Distributor. The corporation  create and distribute footage on cassette tapes known as 'Playbacks'. The footage is in a point of view perspective and therefore we never see the user/creator of the tapes as it is filmed through their eyes.  The tapes allow a user to place the tape on their body and then use Electrode tabs in which are placed on their temples to experience what the person is thinking/feeling/doing on a particular tape. The experiences the corporation create are relatively ethical and typically feature films that users can buy instead of watching films at the cinema, however, there are illegal tapes of sex and drug experiences being distributed by members of the public, Vera also sells the illegal tapes for extra money.
Vera one day receives a tape on her doorstep, she views the tape and it is a rape, we don't see the rapists face, just the hands. Her doorbell rings and there is another tape, it is of a brutal attack of a runner, we never see the attacker, just the hands. The doorbell rings once again and another tape is lying on her doorstep, she watches the footage and it is of a woman getting her liver and kidneys removed brutally in an abandoned car park, again we never see the attacker, just the victim, Vera panics and leaves her house and sits inside a car. She begins speaking to someone to in the car, however we never see them, only their hands briefly as they pass her a tape and Electrode tabs, the hands belong to Vera's illegal supplier of Playback tapes. She asks them if it is them who has been sending her the awful tapes of murders, they don't say a word. Vera watches the tape they hand to her and it is footage of a person being chased inside a multi story building, the ending of the footage is a person being pushed off a roof. She is disgusted, somewhat scared and leaves the car, stating she will not buy the tape. She enters an underpass, she slouches against the wall trying to retain herself of the footage she has just witnessed, she touches the wall and experiences a flashback of a brief attack on a girl, we don't see the assailant, just their hands,  in the same location she is standing in at that very moment, she freaks out and runs off back to her home, as she approaches her doorstep there is a tape. She apprehensively watches the tape and it is the attack of a girl she has just flashbacked to prior to running home scared. She is confused and sits down. The screen fades to black, it is the morning after, she walks to the kettle and puts its on, she also switches on the radio, whilst making her cup of tea, there is a radio news alert stating that an increasing number of illegal tapes have been circulating the city with brutal murders on and that investigations into Playback staff will be made, as she is about to react to the radio, her phone rings, it is a client asking for the latest release of film on Playback tape, she tells the client she will deliver it to her house later that evening. She arrives at the clients house and knocks on the door. There is no answer. She knocks again and there is still no answer. She attempts to ring her client but can not get hold of her, she leaves frustrated and somewhat angry.
It then transitions to a body being dragged up the stairs of house and onto the landing, the killer walks into a bathroom, turns the light on and  looks at themselves through the mirror, the killer standing in the mirror is Vera. She looks intently at the mirror and a blonde woman in dark clothing appears behind her, smiling. Vera turns round and the blonde woman is gone, she scrams for her to come back and turns to look at herself in the mirror, Vera realises what she has done, it is then a flashback to when Vera is sat in the car, talking with her 'supplier', it reveals her sat in the car alone, talking to herself, it briefly shows her point of view whilst in the car, the person she is talking to is the blonde woman from the mirror, her other personality/alter ego. It then transitions to the attack of the woman girl in the underpass, only this time Vera is shown to be the attacker form the victims perspective. It transitions back to the mirror with vera screaming no no, vera then disappears and in her place is the blonde finishing off veras sentence of no no it cant be. The blonde then laughs into the mirror and Vera reappears and laughs with the blonde until the credits come on.
