During our As year we researched into the film Four Lions and how they used crowd funding in order to produce their film. They sent out a mass email to friends, co workers and family and asked for a small donation to help fund the production. As our film is only a short we understand it is not necessary to require a large amount of funds, however, it was important for us to understand how real projects fund their projects in order to be successful. During the prop research I discovered that the cost of our production would equate to forty pounds and therefore we have decided to use crowd funding to help fund our project. I sent a similar mass email to friends and family's in order for them to read our script and plot and donate a small amount to the project. If our film was made into a full length film we would use this method to fund our project. The people who donated in order to help produce the film will be mentioned in the credits and have been given the opportunity to be an extra in the film.
The crowd funding has allowed us to pay for costumes, props and petrol money in order to get us from various locations.
We decided to use locations that wouldn't require a fee, instead we opted for the woods, public places and our homes. It was important to know that if our short was to be made into a full length film that the locations may have an hourly rental fee. It was also important to recognise that the cameras we used during production may have a rental fee. The independent film Submarine had to pay £3000 a week for the rental of the cameras.
