Logo Design for our film company

As our film features the concept of virtual reality and is a science fiction thriller, we decided that our film company will evoke science fiction or in some way link to our short film. We collectively decided upon Virtual Productions for our film company title as is suitable to our films content and is tailored to us. We also asked the audience to give their views upon several names for our film company in order to come up with the name, the other titles include:
  • Foxed Productions
  • Virtuosity Pictures
  • Cortex Productions
  • Taped Productions and Co.
  • Light bulb Studios
  • Virtual Productions
The candidates were presented with our film plot and then was asked based on the plot what they thought was a suitable film company title for our film company logo. We asked 20 members of the audience and 18 out of the 20 stated that Virtual Productions should be the title of our film company. It was important to receive guidance from the audience as the short film will be viewed by them, the aid of the audience has allowed us to create several draft designs for the film company logo.
We each created a design for a logo individually and then chose the one we all felt was suitable and well crafted for our film. We then transferred our draft to Adobe Photoshop in order to make it look professional.

Brain made out of hands

The choice to feature a brain links to our film as the virtual reality tapes are taken form the cerebral cortex within the brain. To incorporate the Playback technology of our film, a cassette tape reel in the shape of a brain would further reinforce the content within our film.

The inspiration for the brain made of cassette tapes also came from an image of a brain made out hands. The hands create an image of a brain which is something we want for our production logo, however, made out of tapes.I felt this would be unique if the brain was made out of something else rather than just a solid image of a brain. We all agreed with this decision as we thought the brain could have connotations of a horror film which is unsuitable for our production logo.
